The Short Version

EuroFolio is a hobby project for learning about investing, European UCITS ETF portfolio construction and then backtesting them. We collect minimal data to make the site work, and we don't sell or share your information with anyone (except the essential services mentioned below).

What Data We Collect

When you create an account:

  • Your email address (for login and verification)
  • Your name (whatever you choose to enter)
  • A hashed version of your password (we can't see your actual password)

When you use the site:

  • The portfolios you create and their holdings
  • Portfolios you star (saved privately to your account)

Email communications:

  • We send verification emails when you sign up (verification is required to create or edit portfolios)
  • We send password reset emails if you forget your password
  • We use Resend (a transactional email service based in Ireland, EU) to deliver these emails
  • If you submit feedback via the contact form, we may follow up by email to discuss it further
  • That's it, no marketing emails, no spam, no newsletters unless you specifically ask for them

Analytics:

  • We use PostHog to understand how people use the site
  • This includes pages you visit, features you use, and how you interact with portfolios
  • We use privacy-preserving identifiers for logged-in users
  • All analytics data is stored in the EU (Frankfurt, Germany)
  • This helps us improve the platform and understand which features are most valuable
How We Use Your Data
  • To let you log in and manage your portfolios
  • To send you account verification and password reset emails
  • To calculate backtest results for your portfolios
  • To show your portfolios to other users (all portfolios are public by default)
  • To understand how the site is being used so we can make it better

We will never: Sell your data, spam you with marketing emails, or share your information with third parties except:

  • Resend (EU-based email service in Ireland for verification, password reset, and contact form emails)
  • PostHog (privacy-focused analytics hosted in Frankfurt, Germany)

Both services are EU-based. That's it, just these two.

Privacy Features
  • Your public profile only shows your account slug (like "user-abc123"), never your real name or email
  • All portfolios you create are public (this is a community platform for sharing and learning)
  • You can delete individual portfolios anytime, or delete your entire account (including all data) from your account settings
Data Storage

Your data is stored on Railway's cloud infrastructure in Amsterdam, Netherlands. We use industry-standard security practices (encrypted passwords, HTTPS, etc.) to keep your data safe.

That said, this is a hobby project, not a bank. Don't put anything sensitive in your portfolio descriptions.

Your Rights

You can:

  • Delete individual portfolios anytime from your portfolio management pages
  • Delete your entire account and all associated data from your account settings
  • Contact us via the contact form for any other data-related requests
Cookies & Local Storage

We use cookies and local storage to keep you logged in and for PostHog analytics. If you clear your browser data, you'll need to log in again.

PostHog uses cookies to track user sessions and behavior across visits. You can opt out of analytics tracking by blocking cookies or using browser privacy features.

Changes to This Policy

We might update this policy occasionally. If we make significant changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
